Abbey Polymers are passionate about supporting local community projects, please click here to check out some of the work we've been doing…

Community Projects

In the past (present and future) we have supported some local organisations, namely Stafford Rangers Football Club, Staffordshire Wildlife Trust, and an analemmatic sundial on Cannock Chase, which was actually a millennium project.

Berkswich Millennium Sundial

Abbey Polymers were pleased to give their support to the Berkswich Millennium Sundial project.

Visitors to Broc Hill on Cannock Chase in Staffordshire can see the work of artist Ian Naylor, in an analemmatic sundial, which combines metalwork and stonework - a lasting reminder of the Millennium.

In order to tell the time, an analemmatic sundial requires somebody to stand on the baseplate in the right place for the time of year, indicated by the legend on the plate, casting a shadow over the numbered stones.

Located in a spot with spectacular views in all directions, the sundial has become a popular local landmark for people looking for something different, and those who just want to sit down on the stones and rest.

Staffs Wildlife Trust

When Abbey Polymers heard about the Staffs Wildlife Trust “Walk on Water” appeal, they were keen to get involved, and made a financial contribution.

The original walkway, at the Trust’s headquarters at Wolseley Bridge near Stafford had become rotten and needed replacing.

The new walkway has been constructed using re-cycled plastic planks and once again, visitors can enjoy walking around the wetter areas of the Wolseley Bridge centre - keeping their feet dry.

Response from Staffs Wildlife Trust re Donation

Staffordshire Wildlife Trust is delighted that Abbey Polymers has chosen to demonstrate its commitment to the environment by supporting our work.  Their donation to our ‘Walk on Water’ appeal was very timely and we are especially pleased that the company has decided to extend its relationship with the Trust by joining our Corporate Membership Scheme.  Income received from the scheme helps support education, community and conservation programmes across the county helping us to protect wildlife and habitat for future generations.
